Who they were
Pere Tarrés i Claret was born at Manresa on 30 May 1905 to exemplary believing parents; his father was a mechanic and the family moved often. His father died in 1925 and soon after his mother was permanently disabled by an accident.
A doctor and member of Catholic Action, after his mother's death he studied for the priesthood and was ordained on 30 May 1942, serving as a curate and then as his bishop directed.

A lay doctor of Catholic Action who became a priest to serve souls as he had served bodies.
