Perfecto Carrascosa Santos
Franciscan priest, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Perfecto Carrascosa Santos was born on 18 April 1906 at Villacañas near Toledo, taught physics in the seminary at Pastrana and was then elected secretary of his province; seized and tortured so that he would speak against the faith, he refused to betray Christ and was killed on 17 October 1936, having first heard the confessions of his companions in martyrdom. He was beatified on 28 October 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI among the martyrs of the cause of Víctor Chumillas Fernández and twenty-one companions of the Order of Friars Minor.
