Peter de Regalado

Who they were
Pedro Regalado was born at Valladolid in 1390 of a noble family of Jewish descent. His father died young, and at thirteen his mother let him enter the Franciscan friary of his city, where he wanted only prayer and penance.
From 1404 he followed Pedro de Villacreces, who was restoring the original observance of the Franciscan Rule, to the hermitage of La Aguilera, and in 1422 succeeded him in leading it. Known for humility and harsh penance, he built two small houses where only twelve friars could live in solitude.
