Peter Fourier

Who they were
Pierre Fourier was born at Mirecourt, Lorraine, on 30 November 1565 to a family of cloth merchants, and became a Canon Regular; in 1597 he took the very poor parish of Mattaincourt, which he cared for wonderfully. He defended craftsmen from usury by setting up a loan fund for them.
He founded the Canons Regular of Our Saviour and the Canonesses Regular of Notre-Dame to give girls free education. He later took refuge as an exile at Gray in Burgundy.
