Who they were
Peter, born at Amiens about 1050, led for some years the hard life of a hermit and was one of the many preachers of the First Crusade; later legends greatly enlarged his part in it.
Returning to Europe, he founded the monastery of Neufmoutier near Liège, where he died in 1115.
