Who they were
Commemoration of Saint Philip, who was one of the seven deacons chosen by the Apostles: he converted Samaria to the faith of Christ, baptised the eunuch of Candace, queen of Ethiopia, and evangelised all the cities he passed through as far as Caesarea, where he is believed to have ended his days.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 11 October as one of the seven deacons, who converted Samaria and baptised the Ethiopian eunuch.
