Who they were
Pierina Morosini, eldest of nine children, was born on 7 January 1931 at Fiobbio, near Albino, Bergamo. She joined Catholic Action in 1942 and from March 1946, just fifteen, worked at the Honegger cotton mill in Albino, rising to loom operator. She went on pilgrimage to Rome for the beatification of Maria Goretti.
At 26, walking home from the factory, she was struck on the head and mortally wounded while defending her virginity, consecrated to God, from a young man's attack.
