Pierre-René Rogue

Who they were
Pierre-René Rogue was born at Vannes in Brittany on 11 June 1758 and ordained priest on 21 September 1782. In 1786 he joined the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians), taught theology at the Vannes seminary, and in 1789 also took charge of the parish of Sainte-Marie du Mené as vicar.
He refused the oath of the Civil Constitution of the Clergy and kept up his ministry in hiding during the Revolution. Arrested on Christmas Eve 1795 while carrying Communion to a sick person, he consumed the Sacrament and spent three months in prison. Condemned as a refractory priest, he went to the scaffold singing and was beheaded on 3 March 1796, aged thirty-seven.

A Vincentian priest of Vannes who kept serving his people in secret during the Revolution and died for the faith.
