Who they were

The decree on martyrdom records that he was born at Benitachell in the province of Alicante on 1 January 1895, entered the Franciscan minor seminary at Benisa as a boy, was professed and ordained priest, taught and was prefect of studies in his religious province, took the degree of lector general in canon law and moral theology at Rome, and on returning to Spain taught theology and was made guardian of his community and rector of the college at Onteniente. The Roman Martyrology commemorates him at Denia in the territory of Alicante as a religious of the Order of Friars Minor and martyr. He was beatified on 11 March 2001 by Pope John Paul II.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology says he faced the notable combat for Christ; the decree says he practised charity, humility and patience.
