Who they were
At Vinkovci in Pannonia, in present-day Croatia, Saint Pollio, lector and martyr, who, arrested during the persecution of the emperor Diocletian and questioned by the prefect Probus, for confessing faith in Christ with great constancy and refusing to sacrifice to idols, was burned at the stake outside the walls of the city.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 27 April as a lector burned at the stake under Diocletian for refusing to sacrifice to idols.
