Pompilio Maria Pirrotti

Who they were
Domenico Pirrotti was born at Montecalvo Irpino, near Benevento, on 29 September 1710, son of a well-known lawyer. At sixteen he heard God's call and joined the Piarists as Pompilio Maria, with their vow to teach poor youth.
Known for austerity of life and tireless work with young people across central Italy, he was called 'the Apostle of the Abruzzi'. He died at Campi Salentina on 15 July 1766.
