Prosper Guéranger
French Benedictine who refounded Solesmes Abbey and led the liturgical revival
Who they were
Dom Prosper Guéranger bought the former priory of Solesmes in 1833 and restored Benedictine life in France, founding the French Congregation of the Order of St Benedict in 1837, and wrote the Liturgical Institutions and The Liturgical Year. Guéranger promotes it.
