Raimunda Cao Fernández
Daughter of Charity of St Vincent de Paul, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Raimunda Cao Fernández was born in the village of Rua de Valdeorras near Ourense on 11 September 1883, made her religious vows as a Daughter of Charity of St Vincent de Paul in 1906 and nursed at the same El Neveral hospital in Jaen. The decree says that on 12 August 1936 two sisters travelling from Jaen to Madrid were forced off their train and killed at Madrid, and thrown into a pit in the Vallecas cemetery; she was beatified on 13 October 2013 by Pope Francis.
