Dominican sister of the Annunciation, superior, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Raimunda Fossas Románs was born on 1 November 1881 at Ripoll in the diocese of Vic and in 1903 was received at Vic into the Sisters of Saint Dominic of the Annunciation, founded by Blessed Francisco Coll; she was given charge of several houses, which she governed with charity and evenness of temper, and in 1935 was called to head the Barcelona college of Saint Catherine of Siena.
On 27 July 1936 she was seized and killed together with four of her sisters. She was beatified on 28 October 2007 by Benedict XVI, among Antero Mateo García and his eleven companions of the Second and Third Orders of Saint Dominic.
