Who they were
Brother Vidal Ernesto (Ramiro Frías García) was born at Villajimena, in the province of Palencia, on 13 March 1906, and made his perpetual vows as a Brother of the Christian Schools in 1931. He taught at Bujedo and in other cities; his last post was the Menéndez Pelayo college-academy in Madrid. Recognised as a religious while in hiding, he was taken away and shot at the cemetery of Vicálvaro in 1936.
Pope Benedict XVI declared him a martyr in 2011, and he was beatified at Tarragona on 13 October 2013 with his companions.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
One of sixteen De La Salle Brothers killed in Madrid in the religious persecution of 1936-1937, beatified as martyrs in 2013.
