Spanish Dominican, first vicar apostolic in the Peruvian Amazon and co-founder of the Dominican Missionary Sisters of the Rosary
Who they were
Fray Ramón Zubieta was apostolic prefect and then, from 1913, vicar apostolic of Urubamba and Madre de Dios in the Peruvian Amazon, today the vicariate of Puerto Maldonado, and with Blessed Ascensión Nicol founded the Dominican Missionary Sisters of the Rosary in 1918. The Dominicans give his birth as 3 August 1864, where the Hagiography Circle says 31 August 1864.

Why that counted as sanctity
The Dominican Order records that the diocesan phase of his canonisation process began on 19 November 2000 and closed on 6 December 2000; the Hagiography Circle gives the nihil obstat as 27 March 2003.
