Who they were
Raymond Cayré was a diocesan priest of Albi, born at Puylaurens on 24 December 1915 and baptised eight days later; he studied at the minor seminary of Castres and then at Albi, and was ordained priest on 28 January 1940. Taken prisoner that June and held in Stalag VI G at Bonn, where he served as chaplain, he was arrested by the Gestapo on 7 August 1944 and died at Buchenwald on 22 October 1944, aged 28. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.
