Who they were

On a cargo ship anchored in the port of Rochefort in France, Blessed Raymond Petiniaud de Jourgnac, priest and martyr, who, archdeacon of Limoges, during the French Revolution was held because of his priesthood in inhuman conditions in prison, where he completed his martyrdom, eaten away by sores and lice.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 26 June as an archdeacon of Limoges who died a martyr on a prison ship at Rochefort during the French Revolution.
