May entered the Missionary Benedictine Sisters at Tutzing in 1922 and was sent to South Africa in 1925, working as a seamstress and then for decades as maternity matron at the Nongoma mission hospital; her reported apparitions led to the Ngome Marian Shrine.

Why that counted as sanctity
The parish of Ngome petitioned Bishop Xolelo Thaddeus Kumalo in January 2014, and in October 2014 the Congregation for the Causes of Saints granted the nihil obstat, giving her the title Servant of God; a postulator was appointed in February 2017.
