Who they were
René Boitier was a layman born at Faremoutiers on 8 March 1917 and baptised on 15 April; after his primary schooling he moved to Paris, worked in his father's butcher shop and attended the parish of Saint-François-Xavier. Mobilised in 1939, he married Marielle on 25 March 1940 while on leave, three months before his arrest; in Stalag VI F he joined the Scouts, becoming an aspirant in May 1942 and making his promise at Mass in August 1943, and he was arrested again on 8 August 1944 and died the following 1 May. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.
