Who they were
Richard de Wyche, born at Droitwich about 1197, restored his family's ruined estate, then studied at Oxford in such poverty that he and two friends shared one gown. He became Chancellor of Oxford and then of Canterbury under St Edmund Rich, whom he followed into exile.
Ordained after studying with the Dominicans at Orléans, he became Bishop of Chichester in 1244. He died at Dover on 3 April 1253.

Why that counted as sanctity
A poor scholar who became a holy bishop and faithful friend of St Edmund.
