Who they were
Richard Sergeant, probably of a Gloucestershire family, took his degree at Oxford in 1571 and went to Reims in 1581; he was ordained at Laon in 1583 and left for England that September.
He was condemned with William Thomson merely for being a priest and coming into the realm, and executed at Tyburn on 20 April 1586.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
A priest who died for his priesthood alone.
