Who they were
Rimbert, educated at Turholt in Flanders, became the constant companion of St Ansgar and succeeded him as Archbishop of Hamburg-Bremen in 865, becoming a monk of Corvey.
He made missionary journeys to Friesland, Denmark and Sweden, founded a monastery, cared for the poor and sick, and wrote the life of St Ansgar. He died at Bremen on 11 June 888.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
