Who they were
Rodrigo Aguilar Alemán was born at Sayula, Jalisco, on 13 March 1875. Parish priest of Unión de Tula and a poet, he consecrated his priesthood to Our Lady of Guadalupe and prayed for the grace to crown it with martyrdom.
Forced to leave his parish, he hid at Ejutla, where federal troops came to arrest him. He was one of the 25 martyrs of the Mexican persecution, led by St Cristóbal Magallanes, most of them priests killed for exercising their ministry.
