Roger Cadwallador

Who they were

Roger Cadwallador of Herefordshire was ordained at Valladolid and worked in his home county for about sixteen years, with great success especially among the poor.

Arrested at Easter 1610, he was kept in irons day and night and made to walk to Leominster in shackles. Condemned merely for being a priest, he suffered greatly through a clumsy hangman and was executed at Leominster on 27 August 1610.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
