Who they were
Roger Vallée was a seminarian of Sées, born at Mortagne-au-Perche on 13 May 1920 and baptised at once; the son of the parish sacristan, he entered the minor seminary in 1933 and the seminary of Sées in 1940, and from there was recruited for the compulsory labour service in 1943, reaching Gotha on 8 August of that year. Arrested by the Gestapo on 1 April 1944, he died at Mauthausen on 29 October 1944, aged 24. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.
