Román Adame Rosales
Feast: 21 April (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Román Adame Rosales was born at Teocaltiche, Jalisco, on 27 February 1859, and was parish priest of Nochistlán, Zacatecas: a deeply humble priest who said in suffering, 'God's will be done.'
He taught the faith, preached missions, built chapels so the faithful had the Blessed Sacrament near, helped the sick and taught children. During the persecution he went on giving the sacraments in secret until his hiding place was found. He was one of the 25 martyrs of the Mexican persecution, led by St Cristóbal Magallanes, most of them priests killed for exercising their ministry.
The miracles
As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
An old parish priest who gave the sacraments in secret until he was taken.
