Who they were
Rose-Philippine Duchesne was born at Grenoble on 29 August 1769 and given the names of the apostle Philip and of Rose of Lima, first saint of the Americas.
In the time of the Revolution she gathered a religious community in France; as a Religious of the Sacred Heart she went to America and founded many schools there.
