Born at Lábrea in Amazonas, she founded the Instituto Josefino with Monsignor Luís de Carvalho Rocha and Archbishop Antônio de Almeida Lustosa in Fortaleza cathedral on 4 January 1933, and the institute's work for persecuted and vulnerable children continues.

The Archbishop of Fortaleza announced in a circular of 18 May 2021 that the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in Rome had authorised her beatification and canonisation process, making her a Servant of God; the archdiocese lists her among its causes.
