Who they were

A professed religious born on 12 April 1908 at Concepción in the diocese of Medellín, one of the seven Colombian brothers of the Hospitaller Order of St John of God who were completing their religious and technical formation at Ciempozuelos; they were shot at Barcelona on 9 August 1936. He was beatified on 25 October 1992 by John Paul II, among Braulio María Corres, Federico Rubio and sixty-nine companions of the Hospitaller Order of St John of God.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology names him among the Hospitaller martyrs of Spain.
