Who they were

At Bingen on the Rhine near Mainz, in the territory of present-day Germany, Saint Rupert, who, a duke, set out young on pilgrimage to the tombs of the Apostles and, on returning to his lands, had many churches built, and fell asleep in the Lord at only nineteen years of age.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 15 May as a young duke who, after a pilgrimage to Rome, built many churches and died at nineteen.
