Who they were
Rusticus, from southern Gaul, became a noted speaker in Rome but longed for the contemplative life; St Jerome advised him, and he became a monk at Lérins.
Consecrated Bishop of Narbonne about 430, he struggled against the Arianism spread by the Goths and, discouraged, offered to resign, but Pope St Leo dissuaded him. He built a church at Narbonne and died on 26 October 461.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
