Who they were

Annakutty Muttathupadathu was born at Kudamalur, in the diocese of Changanacherry, India, on 19 August 1910, of an old noble family, born prematurely after her mother was frightened by a snake. Her mother died three months later, and from 1920 she lived with her aunt at Muttuchira.

To escape an imposed marriage she burned her foot in the fire. Admitted to the Franciscan Clarist Congregation, almost always ill, she offered her life to God, finding in the Cross the royal road to become like Christ.
