Who they were
Arbogast, an Irish missionary, lived as a hermit in a German forest and then went to Alsace. His friend King Dagobert II of Austrasia made him Bishop of Strasbourg, where he was famed for holiness and miracles.
He died in 678 and at his own request was buried on a mountainside where criminals were buried.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
