Saint Kilian
German-Irish saint

Who they were
Kilian, born about 640 of noble parents, probably in Ireland, was a monk and a travelling bishop. With eleven companions he set out as a missionary, reached Würzburg, and received missionary faculties in Rome from Pope Conon.
He converted Duke Gozbert and many of his people in Franconia. He was martyred with two companions, probably on 8 July 689, and is the apostle and patron of Franconia.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
