Who they were
Amabile Lucia Visintainer was born at Vigolo Vattaro, Trento, on 16 December 1865 to poor, practising parents, who emigrated in 1875 with other Trentino families to Santa Catarina, Brazil.
There she founded the Little Sisters of the Immaculate Conception to serve the sick and the poor, and after many difficulties served in the congregation with the greatest humility and constant prayer. She died on 9 July 1942 saying: 'May God's will be done.'
