Who they were
Sabina was a noble Roman woman of the second century, married to the senator Valentinus, who was converted to Christianity by her servant Serapia. When Serapia was arrested and tortured to death, Sabina came forward; brought before the prefect Elpidius, she refused to abjure her faith in Jesus Christ and was beheaded around the year 120.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: Sabina has been honoured as a martyr since the early centuries. The relics of both martyrs are in the basilica of Santa Sabina on the Aventine.
Why that counted as sanctity
A noblewoman converted by her servant stood by her faith when it cost her life.
