Saturninus

Who they were
Saturninus, first bishop of Toulouse, went there around 250 and soon had a small church. His ancient Acts, used by St Gregory of Tours, say that the pagan priests blamed the silence of their oracles on his passing their temple. They seized him, and when he refused to sacrifice to the idols tied him by the feet to a bull, which dragged him through the town until the rope broke. Two Christian women buried his remains; a church was later built where the bull stopped.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: Saturninus has been honoured as a martyr since the early centuries, one of the most illustrious martyrs of France.
Why that counted as sanctity
Saturninus founded the Church of Toulouse and gave his life for it, refusing to sacrifice to idols.
