Married layman, father of a large Catholic family, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Segundo Alonso González was born at Cabo, in the parish of Santiago de Nembra, and had two brothers who were Dominican missionaries and a sister who was a Dominican enclosed nun; he married Maria, a girl of the same parish, and they had twelve children, four of whom entered the Apostolic School and two of whom became priests. Left a widower with seven children, the youngest only eighteen months old, he married again, a widow who had no children of her own.
He was beatified on 8 October 2016 by Pope Francis, among the Spanish martyrs of Nembra.
