Serenus of Marseilles

Who they were

At Marseille in Provence in France, Saint Serenus, bishop, who hospitably received Saint Augustine and his companions, sent by Pope Saint Gregory the Great to evangelize England, and, while returning from Rome, rested in peace near Vercelli.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 2 August as the bishop of Marseille who welcomed Saint Augustine on his way to England.
