Who they were
In Noricum along the Danube, in present-day Austria, Saint Severinus of Noricum, priest and monk: having come to this territory after the death of Attila, leader of the Huns, he defended the defenceless people, tamed the violent, converted unbelievers, founded monasteries and devoted himself to those lacking religious instruction.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 8 January as a priest and monk who defended the people of Noricum and founded monasteries.
