Who they were
Simón de Rojas was born at Valladolid on 28 October 1552, entered the Trinitarians there at twelve, professed on 28 October 1572 and was ordained in 1577.
A member of the Queen of Spain's household and from 1619 tutor to the royal children, he never accepted a carriage or payment, but amid the splendours of court stayed humble, poor, merciful to the wretched and ardent in devotion. He died in Madrid on 29 September 1624.
