Who they were
Siricius, a Roman, served the Church from youth as lector and deacon. He was unanimously elected pope in 384.
He answered questions from Spain on baptism, penance and clerical celibacy with full awareness of his authority over the whole Church, and worked to heal the schism at Antioch. He died on 26 November 399.
The miracles
His name was inserted in the Roman Martyrology by Pope Benedict XIV; there was never a formal cause.
