Who they were
Father Stanisław Szulmiński, a Pallottine born in Odessa, was deported to a Soviet camp; when the 1941 amnesty came he revealed himself as a priest, said Mass for the prisoners being released and chose to stay behind with the rest, dying on 27 November 1941 of exhaustion and earlier torture.
