Who they were
Stefan Wincenty Frelichowski was born at Chełmża in northern Poland on 22 January 1913, entered the seminary at eighteen and was ordained on 4 March 1937. From 1938 he served as curate in Toruń.
During the war he was taken to various prisons and camps, but never failed in faith or in his ministry; struck by illness while caring for the sick, he died in 1945 after long suffering.
