Who they were

At Orange, also in France, Blessed Susanne Agathe (Marie Rose) de Loye, virgin of the Order of Saint Benedict and martyr, who, during the French Revolution, the first of a company of thirty-two religious women of various Orders and convents packed into the same prison, persevered in the religious life and, condemned afterwards in hatred of the name of Christ together with her companions, went fearlessly to the scaffold.

As a martyr she was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers her on 6 July as the Benedictine who was the first of thirty-two religious women imprisoned at Orange to go to the scaffold in hatred of the name of Christ.
