Who they were
Teodosio Rafael, in the world Diodoro López Hernando, was born on 27 October 1898 at Salguero de Juarros in the archdiocese of Burgos and entered the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools in 1912; he and three companions of the community at Consuegra in the archdiocese of Toledo followed the evangelical counsels and taught the young the Christian faith, and the decree on their martyrdom says that faith lit up their lives and their deaths.
He was beatified by Benedict XVI among the martyrs of Spain raised to the altars in October 2007.
