Teresa Grillo Michel

Who they were

Teresa Grillo was born at Spinetta Marengo, near Alessandria, on 25 September 1855, of an aristocratic, wealthy family, and married Captain Giovanni Battista Michel of the Bersaglieri.

Widowed at 36 and childless, she felt driven to give herself wholly to the least, and became mother to many who were abandoned: orphans, the elderly, the sick. Selling all her property, she founded the Little Sisters of Divine Providence.
