Who they were
Anna Maria Redi was born at Arezzo on 15 July 1747 and was a boarder at the monastery of Santa Apollonia in Florence until 1764. An inspiration she attributed to St Teresa of Ávila led her to the Carmel.
As a Discalced Carmelite she walked a hard road of perfection, giving herself to prayer and to nursing the elderly sisters, until she died of peritonitis on 7 March 1770, not yet 23.
