Who they were
Teresa Manetti was born at Campi Bisenzio, near Florence, on 2 March 1846. Her father died when she was three, and from her strong, faithful mother she learned fortitude in trials, poverty, abandonment to Providence and sacrifice.
As Mother Teresa Maria of the Cross she founded the Carmelites of St Teresa.
